Town Council Meeting
Tuesday, November 11, 2025
The Little Mountain Town Council Meeting for Tuesday, November 11, 2025, was held at the Derrick Community Center. Present at the meeting were Mayor Jana Jayroe, Council Members Marty Frick, and Jillian Long. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by Mayor Jayroe and Council Member Frick gave the invocation. Mayor Jayroe welcomed guests to the meeting. There were no public comments on the agenda.
The Council reviewed the meeting minutes of October 2025. A motion to approve was made by Frick and seconded by Long, the motion carried.
The council reviewed the financial statement ending October 2025. A motion to accept the financial report as information was made by Frick and seconded by Long, the motion carried 3-0.
In old business:
- Renovations at Reunion Park are underway. There are no current timelines. Mayor Jayroe and Council Member Frick did a walk-through last week and have been in touch with the county regarding questions and concerns. The playground equipment has been ordered. Sidewalks are being poured, trees removed etc.
- Rocky Branch Restoration – The town clerk has been in touch with Mr. Birochak. He indicated that he hopes to have a crew to start at Rocky Branch in the next few weeks.
- The order for the change in phone systems has been submitted. It will take several weeks to get the system switched over. It was requested that the center phone numbers be posted on the website.
- Repairs at Section House are underway. Stumps have been removed from Brady Park, repairs are completed to the ramp, front steps and bathroom floor. Painting is also happening. Metal for the roof has been ordered. Council discussed having the pipes insulated under the house and underpinning. The town clerk will follow up.
- Decorating for the upcoming Christmas tree lighting has started. Council Member Long gave an update. The event will be held on November 30 from 4:30 – 6 pm.
In new business:
- Mayor Jayroe congratulated Lane Attaway and Hannah Huffstetler for winning the write in votes for Seats 1 and 2 in the recent election. Mayor Jayroe also won her bid for reelection.
- The town clerk submitted a proposed list of holiday hours for the Derrick Center Library and the Town Clerk Office. The hours were approved and will be posted.
- The Newberry Museum has requested to set up a display at the library for the coming months. The museum will be closed until after the first of the year for repairs to the roof and building. Council approved the display to be set up at the library.
- A motion was made by Frick and seconded by Long to purchase three (3) additional picnic tables for Brady Park. The motion carried.
- Due to a conflict in her schedule, the town clerk requested that the December meeting of council be changed to Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Council approved the change, and a notice will be posted.
- With the recent increase in the number of children visiting the library, a request was made to purchase two (2) child size tables and chair sets for the library. The purchase was approved.
- Council approved a reimbursement to the library manager for story time supplies.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:00 pm.
