 The Little Mountain Town Council Meeting for August 12, 2025, was held at the Derrick Community Center.  Present for the meeting were Mayor Jana Jayroe, Council Members Marty Frick, Patrick Bowers, Mary Buntin and Jillian Long.  The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by Mayor Jayroe and Council Member Frick gave the invocation.  Mayor Jayroe welcomed guests to the meeting.  There were no public comments on the agenda.

The Council reviewed the meeting minutes of July 2025.  A motion to approve was made by Frick and seconded by Long, the motion carried.

The council reviewed the financial statement ending July 2025. A motion to accept the financial report as information was made by Frick and seconded by Bowers, the motion carried 5-0.

In old business:

  • Council discussed the 2025 Little Mountain Reunion held on August 1 and 2. Despite some rain, comments from the attendees were positive. A financial report will be made available as soon as possible.
  • Renovations at Reunion Park are soon to be underway. Fencing is going up around the perimeter of the park. Mayor Jayroe is working with the county to resolve some issues related to the stormwater system.
  • Council discussed the need for a Rocky Branch Restoration Committee. Dee Hucks and Mr. Scott Wietecha with the SC Naturalists agreed to participate on the committee.  Mayor Jayroe and Council Member Marty Frick will represent the council on the committee.  The town clerk will assist in contacting officials that can provide insight into how the town should precede. A meeting will be scheduled after everyone is contacted.
  • The town clerk reported that the directory board is currently updated. Additionally, the new maintenance services are going well. Priority items for the Reunion were completed.
  • The deadline to file for the election has passed. Mayor Jayroe filed for the Mayoral Seat.  No petitions were filed for the council seats.

In new business:

  • The town clerk reported that there was a leak in the Section House roof due to the heavy rain.
  • Toddler time at the library has been well attended. The Library Manager has offered to move the toddler time to Friday’s when school starts back for preschoolers.  Council approved the additional hour on Friday for the Library Manager.
  • Charles Shealy thanked Mayor Jayroe for her assistance with an issue at the Little Mountain Post Office.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:05 pm.
