Meeting Minutes – May 30, 2023

TOWN OF LITTLE MOUNTAIN                Meeting Minutes – May 30, 2023

Special Meeting Held to Hold the First Reading to Participate in the Local Revenue Services through the Municipal Association of South Carolina

The Little Mountain Town Council met in special session on May 30, 2023, via Zoom video conferencing. The call to order was at 6:30 pm by Mayor Jayroe. Present for the meeting were Mayor Jana Jayroe, Council Members Marty Frick, Laura McLeod, David Bowers, and Steve White.

The town clerk explained that the council had reviewed the Local Revenue Services Agreement at the regular meeting on May 9.   The clerk was preparing the agreement to mail to the MASC and realized that the referenced ordinance was an attachment to the agreement and not the town’s business license ordinance.  After discussing the matter with Mayor Jayroe, it was decided to hold two special meetings to have the required number of readings for the ordinance.

The town clerk also contacted the MASC to inform them that the agreement would not be completed by the May 26 deadline.  A representative from MASC extended the deadline to the end of June.

The agreement and attached ordinance allow the town to continue to receive business license fees collected by MASC and to participate in the online portal.

A motion was made by Frick to approve the agreement and ordinance as described.  Council Member White seconded the motion and the motion carried.

Since the deadline had been extended, Council also decided to hold the second reading of the LRS Agreement and Ordinance at the regular meeting in June instead of holding a separate special  meeting.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:36 pm.

Respectfully submitted by:

Cindy Farr, Town Clerk
