Town of Little Mountain –   Meeting Minutes March 22, 2022

 The Little Mountain Town Council met in a special session on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.  The primary purpose of the meeting was to review proposals for the lawn maintenance contract.  Present for the meeting were Mayor Jana Jayroe, Council Members Marty Frick, Laura McLeod, David Bowers, Steve White, and members of the public.

Mayor Jayroe called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm and gave the invocation.  There were no public comments on the agenda.

Council welcomed Samantha Curtis and Anna Weaver to the meeting.  Samantha and Anna presented a program on an upcoming fundraiser to be hosted by Holy Trinity Lutheran Church to benefit Ukrainian children.  The 5 K run will be held on May 21, 2022, with proceeds going to Families Standing with Families of Ukraine.  Council and the presenters discussed various logistics including the race route and safety.  Council thanked Samantha and Anna for the information.

Council discussed information from Jeff Murray regarding a potential BBQ fundraiser for the Reunion.  After some discussion, Council agreed to move forward with the event to be held on April 23.  A total of two hundred and twenty Boston butts will be cooked.  A sign-up sheet should be utilized to sell.  Murray will get all the needed items and order the meat as well as provide guidance.

Mayor Jayroe and Council Members Frick, McLeod and White opened bids received for the lawn maintenance contract.  Council Member David Bowers was recused from the meeting and discussion during this time.   A bid sheet was completed for each proposal.

After discussion, Mayor Jayroe, Frick, McLeod, and White agreed to interview the top four bidders.  Former Council Member and citizen, Charles Shealy was asked to be a part of the interview committee, as well as McLeod and White.   The town clerk will contact Quality Landscape, Chapman Landscape, Bowers Lawn Service and Mid-Carolina Landscape.  The interviews will be held on April 4 at the Derrick Community Center.  Additional information needed includes but is not limited to, listing of equipment, references, number of crew members, time needed to complete cutting, trimming, and edging, etc. Following the interviews, a recommendation will be made to the full council.
