Meeting Minutes – March 12, 2019
Town of Little Mountain
The Little Mountain Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the Derrick Community Center. Present for the meeting were Mayor Jana Jayroe, Council Members Charles Shealy, Marty Frick , Steve White and Melvin Bowers.
Mayor Jayroe called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. The invocation was given by Frick.
Council reviewed the meeting minutes of the February 26 meeting. A motion was made by Frick to accept the minutes as presented. The motion was seconded by Shealy and the motion carried 5-0.
Mayor Jayroe shared that the Comet bus route was scheduled to start on May 29. A representative is expected to address council at the April meeting.
In other updates:
- Mayor Jayroe reported that the telephone system in the community center will be connected within the week.
- Computers for the library will be purchased with remaining penny sales tax monies. Mayor Jayroe is working with county officials to collect and review bids. Jayroe is also working on quotes for a lease of a copier/printer. A representative has looked at the space in the community center and will be creating a design layout within the next three to four weeks. Any sales tax money that is left after computers can be put forwards the purchase of furniture.
- Utilities are being tagged behind the businesses on Main Street in preparation for the new sewer line.
Council discussed the success of the BBQ Cook- off in the park. Suggestions for improvement included having music, informing the public that the event was cash only, and ensuring that all trash is placed in the dumpster.
Council discussed having a permanent dumpster placed for town use and a permanent meter set in the park. Shealy motioned to move forward with the dumpster and meter. Frick seconded the motion and the motion carried 5-0.
The Dutch Fork Genealogy Society will have a work day at the center on March 30.
The Reunion Committee will meet on March 21 at 7 pm. The committee is looking for more exhibits for the park since many of the craft vendors display in the school. Shealy confirmed that the car show is on the calendar.
Signs for the gates will be placed at Rocky Branch. The remaining surface material will be spread as soon as weather permits.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:29 pm.
