MEETING MINUTES – July 8, 2025

 The Little Mountain Town Council met on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the Derrick Community Center.  Present at the meeting were Mayor Jana Jayroe, Council Members Mary Buntin, Marty Frick and Jillian Long.  The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm and the invocation was given by Council Member Buntin.

The council reviewed the meeting minutes of June 2025.  A motion was made by Frick and seconded by Long to accept the minutes as presented.  The motion carried.

The council reviewed the financial report ending June 2025. Council noted higher than normal power cost at Reunion Park in the pit/concession area.  The area will be checked to make sure no unnecessary appliances are on.  A motion was made to accept the report as information by Frick and Buntin seconded the motion, and the motion carried.

In other business:

  • The council is still waiting for the state budget to be finalized regarding funds for the clean-up at the Rocky Branch Trail Head. Mayor Jayroe spoke with some of her contacts, and they reported that the chances of monies being available for the trail were not good.
  • A bid for $386.25 was received for repainting the placards on the business directory board. Council agreed to move forward.
  • Council members were reminded that petitions for the election in November are due on July 18 at noon.
  • Council reviewed the estimate provided by the Dutch Fork Radio Group for vinyl on the radio building. Council approved the estimate of $459.
  • The tree maintenance at Brady Park has started but has not yet been completed. The fence has been removed.
  • The town clerk received a revised bid on the pathway at the Section House. The new bid is $12,200.  A bid was also received for the repair of the front steps and bathroom floor.  The repair of the steps is $750 for labor plus materials.  The bid for the bathroom is $750 for labor plus materials.  Council approved pathway and repair of steps and bathroom floor.

In new business:

  • Ron Schnell is available for complete maintenance repairs. Mr. Schnell is a previous maintenance supervisor.  After some discussion, council agreed to use Mr. Schnell to complete maintenance needs around town. Mr. Schnell will begin with priority needs for the Reunion.
  • There are some large limbs in Reunion Park that need to be cleaned up prior to the Reunion. After some discussion, council agreed to ask Foster Tree Care to mulch the limbs and look for and remove any additional limbs that might be a danger.
  • There will be a Reunion Planning Meeting on Thursday, July 17 at 6:30 pm at the Derrick Center. The next meeting will be July 31 at 6:30 pm in Reunion Park.

Mayor Jayroe commented that paving had been completed on Ponderosa and that Zion Circle would also be paved in the coming months.  Council Member Buntin had concerns regarding a fire hydrant being blocked by limbs and debris.  It was suggested that Buntin contact the fire department.

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 7:14 pm. The motion passed.
