Town of Little Mountain- July 23, 2024 SPECIAL MEETING TO CONSIDER FIRST READING OF ANNEXATION ORDINANCE
A special meeting of the Little Mountain Town Council was held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, to consider the first reading of an annexation ordinance for Newberry County Tax TMS 697-9. The meeting was held at the Derrick Community Center with Mayor Jana Jayroe, Council Member Patrick Bowers and Council Member Marty Frick.
Mayor Jayroe called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm and gave the invocation. There were no public comments on the agenda.
Mayor Jayroe commented that one- hundred percent of the property requesting annexation was being considered. The property would be zoned R-45 pending annexation. Jillian Long asked about allowable hunting on the property. Council members, along with County Council Member Karl Sease, briefly discussed options for allowing hunting on parts of property with special zoning. Sease commented that this is new information and would have to be studied by both the county and municipalities. Mayor Jayroe and Council Members commented that any allowable hunting would need to match DNR regulations.
Council Member Bowers made a motion to hold the first reading of the ordinance. Frick seconded the motion, the motion carried 3-0.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:00 pm.
